About Captain Richard

I was born and raised in Charleston. I grew up on the Stono River, fishing off of neighborhood docks at first and then I got my first boat at the age of 10. It wasn’t a nice boat but it got me out to the river to cover more fishing areas. For over the past decade, I have been a fishing guide in Charleston, leading fishing charters on my own boat. I also enjoy helping out at the Kiawah's Nature Program and working to preserve the nature and resources in the region. I have a 50 ton master captain’s license from the United States Coast Guard, and I am fully insured. I cater to all skill levels of fishing from advanced anglers with an interest in a specific species, to beginners who are being introduced to this great sport. Family fishing trips are one my specialties and I offer custom family trips including dolphin tours and nature tours. If you book a Charleston charter tour with me, there are numerous locations we can fish. Locations include inshore, nearshore, and fly fishing tours in and around Historic Charleston Harbor, Kiawah Island, Seabrook Island,Folly Beach,Sullivans Island, and Isle of Palms. When I’m not on the boat leading a charter, I may be out competing. I have been fishing professionally for over a decade as an inshore guide and captain of a 41 ft Viking Sportfish. I fish many local tournaments when time allows with wins in tournaments like the 2010 IFA Charleston event!
